Grocio wins 2008 Tulsa Spirit Award
Thank you so much to the 2008 Tulsa Spirit Award judges, coaches, contestants and local business resources (particularly Spirit Bank, the Kauffman Foundation and i2E) for an amazing business model competition.
For those of you who haven’t visited Tulsa lately (or, maybe, ever)… Tulsa’s early days were a tapestry of amazing risk takers and amazing failures in the oil patch and all the services you can imagine around that early enterprise (raw materials, banking, etc). Tulsa may not be the oil capital of the world but I feel pretty confident we have a shot at the Entrepreneur Capital of the World.
The reason for that optimism? Tulsa’s usually one of the last places in the US affected by economic downturn (just look at how our real estate has held its value) and one of the first to fully rebound and re-engage after the bottom arrives. We’re a resilient lot here in fly-over country and we have a spirit and pride that is characteristic of our famous sons and daughters (Will Rogers comes to mind).
As the US economy continues to straighten itself out I hope you’ll consider Oklahoma as a viable place to start or relocate your business. We have terrific infrastructure, a great cost of living and the shortest commutes you’ve ever experienced in your life.
Grocio’s next steps? Execution of the plan. Nothing’s changed. It’s business as usual for this bootstrapped startup. We’re just as determined today as we were last week and the months before that. Our smiles are just a wee bit bigger and expectations on us a wee bit bigger. If you haven’t already… Registration is FREE at Grocio.com.
Congratulation Gerald. Your plan paid off! I hope that Grocio is a smashing success!
